Scarborough's Alpamare Water Park Reopens for the Summer

Scarborough’s Alpamare water park re-opens to the public today after a massive effort by the North Yorkshire Council and Flamingo Land teams.

Scarborough's Alpamare Water Park is back open today 9 months after it closed it's doors.

The attraction is now owned by North Yorkshire Council after the previous operator went bust.

The Council have contracted Flamingo Land to run the water park on a short term basis.

Flamingo Land Chief Exec - Gordon Gibb - is delighted to have the attraction back open.

The North Bay attraction boasts a wave pool, a splash and play pool, four state-of-the-art slides, two outdoor pools and a café and terrace bar. It was purpose-built in 2016 overlooking North Bay in the seaside town.

North Yorkshire Council took possession of the site in December last year when the water park's tenant, Benchmark Leisure Ltd, went into administration. Now that Flamingo Land has taken on its short-term operation, work to find a permanent solution on the future operation of the site will begin.

The council's Executive Member for Corporate Services, Councillor Heather Philips, says it's great to have it back open in time for the summer season.

Staff have been working round the clock to get the site ready for customers once more.

Gordon Gibb says the task of reopening the water park has been a significant undertaking

Gordon says The water park's alpine themed spa and treatment area wont be open immediately but he hopes to have it back in operation soon.

North Yorkshire Council’s deputy leader, Cllr Gareth Dadd, added:

“I am delighted that we have managed to get this attraction back open in time for the busy school holidays.  It is a massive asset for the town and securing Flamingo Land as the operator is key to its success.  It is great to be working with a well-established, local and trusted company.”

Alpamare will be open from 10am to 9pm each day with the restaurant open from 11am to 8pm.

Over the summer months tickets will be £23 for adults, £18 for children and £5 for toddlers with family tickets available for £70. Evening entry after 5pm reduces the prices to £20 for an adult, £15 for a child, £3 for a toddler and £62 for a family. The entry fees are set to be reduced slightly from September 2nd.
